Springvale Park Planting
On Saturday,
March 30th, about 30 arrogantly shabby Inman Parkers, armed with shovels, picks
and rakes, located nearly 700 plants in Springvale Park.
The landscaping was undertaken according to the original Olmsted design laid
out nearly 100 years ago.
The workday, spearheaded by Atlanta Preservation Center founder Eileen Brown, caps off twenty years of planning and fundraising aimed at restoring the park to its former glory. Unlike a previous workday, when the rains turned things into a virtual mud bath, Saturday's weather cooperated long enough to make headway in relative comfort. Check out the mini-cluster-photo-ops depicting Inman Park's latest expression of true grit: Work Details A & B, C & D, E & Tractor, Triptych.
A Ribbon Cutting, reopening this Inman Park landmark, was held on April 15th to commemorate the numerous contributors to this cause.
